Perplexity Enterprise is a managed version of Perplexity for organizations that need current web research, internal knowledge search, connected applications and agentic work under company administration.
It has two seat types:
  • Enterprise Pro: $40 per user per month or $400 per year.
  • Enterprise Max: a monthly seat is $325; annual billing costs $3,250.
The products are not simply larger personal subscriptions. Enterprise adds organizational data treatment, identity and member management, approved connectors, retention options, security features and deployment controls. Enterprise Max adds much higher individual capacity and can unlock selected advanced controls for an organization.
The central procurement question is not whether employees like Perplexity Search. It is whether the organization can connect the right knowledge, preserve source permissions, verify outputs and govern agent actions at acceptable cost.
For the consumer product and company overview, start with the complete Perplexity guide.

What Enterprise is designed to do

External research

Employees can use Perplexity’s cited search and deeper research modes to investigate current public information.

Internal knowledge search

Perplexity can retrieve approved company files and connected sources, allowing a user to ask a question across organizational material rather than navigating each repository manually.

Mixed public and private answers

A query can combine current web evidence with internal context. This is valuable for competitor analysis, sales preparation, policy interpretation and operational research. It also requires clear labeling: the reader should know which conclusion comes from public, internal or inferred material.

Creation

Teams can turn findings into reports, slides, spreadsheets and other assets.

Agent work

Perplexity Computer can coordinate research, files and connected applications. Its actions and credit use need an additional control layer beyond answer generation.

Browser assistance

Comet for Enterprise brings Perplexity into a managed browser environment, subject to administrative policy.

Enterprise Pro

Enterprise Pro is the standard managed plan. It includes the core paid Perplexity experience plus business controls and internal knowledge capabilities.
It is appropriate for employees who regularly need:
  • current cited research;
  • answers across approved company material;
  • managed file and app connectors;
  • larger Projects;
  • organization-controlled membership;
  • and enterprise data commitments.
Enterprise Pro should be the default seat in many deployments. An organization can add Max selectively rather than purchasing maximum capacity for every employee.

Enterprise Max

Enterprise Max targets roles with unusually heavy research, creation, file or Computer use.
At review it included:
  • the highest enterprise access to advanced models and search modes;
  • much larger file limits;
  • 15,000 Computer credits each month;
  • expanded Create and media use;
  • earlier access to selected features;
  • and priority support.
Perplexity’s plan documentation also says that an organization with at least one Enterprise Max user can access selected premium controls without a 50-seat minimum, including SCIM, audit logs, configurable retention and an Insights dashboard.
Confirm exactly which organization-wide features are activated by one Max seat and which individual capabilities remain limited to that seat.

Mixed-seat deployment

Perplexity allows Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max seats in the same organization.
A practical allocation might be:
  • Enterprise Pro for employees using search and internal knowledge;
  • Enterprise Max for research, strategy, intelligence, data or agent-heavy roles;
  • no seat for employees without a defined use case.
Review the allocation after the pilot. High capacity assigned by hierarchy rather than workload creates waste.

Pricing and billing details

Annual savings

  • Enterprise Pro annual billing saves $80 per seat against twelve monthly payments.
  • Enterprise Max annual billing saves $650 per seat.

Seat commitment

Perplexity’s onboarding guide describes a 30-day seat commitment, so removing a seat can affect billing after that initial period rather than reversing the current charge.

Invoicing

The standard self-service route supports major cards. Perplexity documents invoice and bank-transfer options for annual subscriptions, with stated seven-day invoice terms. Large deployments can negotiate other commercial terms.

Discounts

Perplexity’s July 2026 onboarding guide lists a 25% discount on Enterprise Pro seats for eligible educational institutions, nonprofits and government agencies. Large deployments of 250 or more seats can discuss custom terms and dedicated customer success.

No standard trial

The enterprise billing FAQ says there is no standard Enterprise trial. A buyer should ask sales about an evaluation structure, but should not assume free production access.

API is separate

Enterprise seats do not include a matching API balance. Applications use separate developer billing, keys and governance.
The full Perplexity pricing guide compares annual costs and credits.

Security claims and what they mean

Perplexity’s security page states:
  • SOC 2 Type II certification;
  • GDPR compliance;
  • HIPAA-aligned safeguards;
  • PCI-compliant payment security;
  • production environment separation;
  • encryption in transit;
  • access controls and just-in-time production access;
  • monitoring, incident response and vulnerability disclosure;
  • vendor review and a published subprocessor list.
Procurement should preserve the wording.
“HIPAA-aligned safeguards” is not enough to conclude that every product, connector and workflow can handle protected health information. A US healthcare deployment must confirm product scope, a Business Associate Agreement where required, subprocessors and the exact data flow.
Likewise, SOC 2 describes controls within the audited scope and period. It does not certify every output as accurate or eliminate customer configuration risk.

Enterprise data and model training

Perplexity says enterprise customer data is not used to train or fine-tune its models. It says its agreements also prohibit third-party model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic from training on Perplexity data.
That is a material difference from the consumer AI data-improvement setting.
It does not answer every data question. An organization still needs to understand:
  • storage;
  • retention;
  • support access;
  • security logs;
  • connected providers;
  • region;
  • deletion;
  • backups;
  • legal holds;
  • and what its own users export or share.

Retention: sessions and files are different

Perplexity’s enterprise retention documentation states:
  • files attached to sessions are automatically deleted after seven days;
  • files in an organization repository, My Files or Projects remain until deleted;
  • session retention can be customized for organizations with 50 or more seats or at least one Enterprise Max user;
  • retention is measured from the session’s last activity;
  • a follow-up or recurring task can reset that clock;
  • changing to a shorter policy can make old sessions inaccessible immediately and permanently delete them within seven days.
The policy applied to sessions hosted in Projects, but not to sessions a person created before joining the organization.
This produces three deployment tasks:
  1. define retention separately for sessions and stored knowledge files;
  2. identify pre-organization personal content;
  3. test what a recurring task does to the retention clock.
Do not advertise “seven-day retention” as one universal rule.

Identity and access management

Enterprise supports SSO, and eligible deployments can use SCIM.
A production identity design should cover:
  • verified domains;
  • allowed authentication methods;
  • admin and member roles;
  • group-to-seat mapping;
  • just-in-time versus assigned access;
  • offboarding;
  • guest and contractor access;
  • break-glass administration;
  • periodic access review.
Perplexity’s basic onboarding supports invitation by email and shareable link. Disable or restrict broad invite links if they conflict with company access policy.
When a user moves from a personal Pro or Max subscription into Enterprise, Perplexity says the personal subscription is cancelled and unused value can be credited toward the enterprise renewal. Existing sessions and Projects remain private unless explicitly shared with the organization.
That privacy protects the individual but can create a company-record problem. Decide which business content must be migrated into organizational ownership.

Connectors and internal knowledge

Supported file connectors include services such as:
  • Google Drive;
  • Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint;
  • Dropbox;
  • Box;
  • and other approved sources.
Computer supports a broader set of applications, including collaboration, project, code, CRM and data platforms.
Perplexity says connected files respect source permissions. This is essential but not sufficient.

Permission inheritance can preserve old mistakes

If a folder was shared too broadly in the source system, AI search can make the content easier to discover. Before indexing:
  • review inherited access;
  • remove public or all-company links that are no longer needed;
  • separate sensitive repositories;
  • test with representative users;
  • and create a process for permission changes and deletion.

Generated answers can cross conceptual boundaries

A user may be authorized to read several documents individually but not expected to synthesize a sensitive conclusion across them. Access control and acceptable-use policy must address inference, not only file retrieval.

Source freshness matters

Connected or uploaded copies can become stale. Establish authoritative repositories, synchronization expectations and version labels.

Premium data sources

Perplexity has offered integrations with premium business sources such as CB Insights, PitchBook and Statista for eligible enterprise experiences.
Access to a premium source does not automatically grant the right to redistribute its content in every output. Review the underlying license, citation requirements and audience restrictions.

Computer for Enterprise

Computer can use enterprise connectors, models, tools and subagents in an isolated environment. It supports background and scheduled work and consumes credits.
An admin program should define:
  • who can access Computer;
  • monthly credit allocation and overage policy;
  • allowed connectors;
  • approval for write actions;
  • prohibited task classes;
  • scheduled-task inventory;
  • Skill review;
  • incident escalation;
  • and output retention.
Begin with read-only workflows. The Perplexity Computer guide provides a separate agent pilot.

Comet for Enterprise

Comet can be managed through enterprise browser policies covering areas such as sign-in, sync, extensions, password behavior and security settings.
Browser administration and AI administration should be coordinated. A Comet user can interact with both public web content and authenticated company services, creating prompt-injection and data-exfiltration risks that ordinary search governance may not cover.

A twelve-step deployment plan

1. Define three use cases

Choose frequent, valuable and measurable work. Do not begin with “AI for everyone.”

2. Classify the data

Identify public, internal, confidential, personal, regulated and privileged content in each workflow.

3. Select the seat mix

Use Pro broadly only where useful; assign Max to roles that demonstrate its need.

4. Complete security and legal review

Review order form, DPA, subprocessors, certifications, product scope, incident terms and required BAAs or addenda.

5. Design identity

Configure SSO, SCIM if eligible, roles, groups, admins and offboarding.

6. Clean source permissions

Fix repositories before connecting them.

7. Configure retention

Set session policy, file lifecycle and deletion ownership. Test a Project and scheduled task.

8. Connect one source

Use a bounded low-risk repository before the whole knowledge estate.

9. Establish answer verification

Define when citations must be opened, which sources are authoritative and which decisions require expert review.

10. Pilot Computer separately

Agent action needs stricter controls than read-only search.

11. Measure

Track adoption, completed tasks, verification time, corrections, incidents, credits and actual time saved.

12. Expand or stop

Add sources and seats only when the evidence supports it. Remove unused access.

Governance policy outline

An effective policy answers:
  • What data may be entered?
  • Which plans and workspaces are approved?
  • Which connectors can be used?
  • May users share sessions externally?
  • Which sources must be verified?
  • When must AI assistance be disclosed?
  • Which actions need approval?
  • Who owns generated work?
  • How are incidents reported?
  • When are sessions, files and tasks deleted?
Keep the rules close to examples. “Use AI responsibly” is not an operational policy.

Perplexity Enterprise versus personal plans

Reimbursing personal accounts can seem cheaper, but it does not create organizational ownership or control.

Common deployment mistakes

Connecting content before fixing permissions

AI improves discoverability, including discoverability of overshared material.

Assuming citations eliminate review

An enterprise answer can cite an old internal file or misread a current one.

Treating Enterprise Max as an executive perk

Assign it by workload.

Ignoring personal-to-enterprise content

Old personal sessions can remain private. Move required company records deliberately.

Enabling Computer during the search pilot

Separate information retrieval from action risk.

Failing to budget credits

Scheduled and complex work can create usage spend beyond seats.

Describing all data as deleted after seven days

Repository and Project files remain until deleted.

Treating compliance language as legal approval

Confirm the exact product, contract, region and workflow.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Perplexity Enterprise?

Enterprise Pro is $40 per user monthly or $400 annually. Enterprise Max is $325 monthly or $3,250 annually at standard US prices.

Can one organization use both seat types?

Yes.

Is there a seat minimum?

Self-service onboarding does not state one universal minimum. Some advanced controls require 50 seats unless the organization has at least one Enterprise Max user.

Does Perplexity train on enterprise data?

Perplexity says no, and says its third-party model agreements prohibit training on that data.

Does Enterprise support SSO and SCIM?

SSO is an Enterprise capability. SCIM is available to eligible organizations, including deployments that meet the seat threshold or have an Enterprise Max user under current terms.

How long are enterprise uploads retained?

Session attachments are deleted after seven days under the standard rule. Files stored in repositories, My Files or Projects remain until deleted. Session retention can be configurable.

Is Perplexity HIPAA compliant?

Perplexity’s current security page says it provides HIPAA-aligned safeguards, while other marketing language can be broader. A healthcare buyer must confirm BAA availability and the exact covered service.

Does Enterprise include Computer?

Enterprise users can access Computer according to plan and credits. Agent use should be governed separately.

Does Enterprise include API credits?

No.

Are education and nonprofit discounts available?

Perplexity documents a 25% Enterprise Pro discount for eligible education, nonprofit and government organizations.

The bottom line

Perplexity Enterprise can make public and internal knowledge substantially easier to query. Its 2026 platform also reaches further through Comet and Computer.
That breadth makes implementation—not the demo—the decisive work. Clean permissions, configure identity and retention, separate search from action, measure credits and teach employees to verify the source behind the answer.
The best rollout is not the largest one. It is the smallest governed deployment that proves a valuable workflow and can expand without losing control.
